Expired Unused Sites
West Terrace Cemetery
Thursday, 21 May 2015
Historic West Terrace Cemetery dates back to the European settlement of South Australia and is one of the nation's oldest operating cemeteries.
To ensure there is capacity for future generations at West Terrace, the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority is undertaking a review of land that may be made available for future sale. This review has focused on bare ground sites within existing cemetery ground that have had no internments and where the internment right is now expired.
The Internment Right Holder, their family or friends have the opportunity to renew the unused sites listed below, and we encourage any eligible person to do so.
Given the limited availability of undeveloped land, sites that are not renewed will revert to the control of the Authority in accordance with Section 38 of the Burial and Cremation Act (SA) 2013.
As West Terrace Cemetery is Stage Heritage listed, all development, including the installation of monuments, is subject to heritage criteria and endorsement by the appropriate authority.
